Lost: Season 4, Episode 5

This episode was all about Desmond. The 'name' for the Episode was called, "The Constant". The 'constant' was about the only thing that I understood in this episode.

There are definitely "time" issues that are going on and I do not think that we fully have the answers to how they are fully working. I am really wanting to know how this "time" is really working and if the "time" is going to be what the show will all be about in the end.

One of the interesting things are the 'small' hints that may be in the show that you do not know are hints. I watch a little bit of last weeks episode with the "pop-ups" I think that the book that "Sawyer" was reading was a HUGE TIP. Of course, I had no idea about the book (never read it) so I did not make the connection .... anyways ...

We almost got an answer or beginning of an explanation from Faraday but the explanation was interuppted with the call from the Freighter.

What we did learn was that if you have a "constant" you can hold on and make the transitions in and out and for Desmond, the constant is Peggy. Because of his back/forth and meeting with Faraday; he told Penny he would contact her in 8 years. Here is the recap of the last minute of the show and Desmond making the call. With him being in/out of time; he at the time did not know Sayid.

Final Moments

Desmond is back on the freighter. Desmond quickly repeats Penny's number to Sayid, and the call goes through. Desmond waits as it rings, hoping it goes through. Then, "Hello?" Penny picks up. Desmond can't believe she answered, and Penny can't believe he called. She asks where he is, and he explains he's been on an island. He asks if she still cares about him, and she says yes. She's been searching for him for three years. She knows about the island, she's been doing research on it. A burst of static drowns her out. She comes back in and says when she talked to Charlie, she knew he was still alive. Desmond tells Penny he loves her and always will. Penny says no matter what, she'll find him. She loves him and then the phone goes dead. The battery died, but it was enough. Desmond recognizes Sayid and is all right now.

Juliet is the key figure.

Season Update:
With the writers strike over. Lost announced that they were going to add 5 more episodes to this season. We will have 6-8 the next 3 weeks. We will then have a month break. 9-13 will resume on April 24.
