Zion Lutheran

Above is the picture of the church building where we will be serving at in Wooster, Ohio. The church has been in existence in the community since 1840. We are looking forward to joining their staff and the individuals who attend the church.

They have 4 services. The first service is a traditional service at 8 am. The second service is a contemporary service at 9 am in the fellowship hall. The third service is a traditional service at 10:30. The fourth service is a hot meal for those in the downtown community and worship following ( at 6 pm ).

My official position will be Director of Youth & Family Ministry. I am excited about this and I really sense that this position is NOT a name only title ( reference to the orange conference ). We will be developing ministries that will strengthen families and encouage families to do ministry together. We will also be developing a ministry from craddle to grave that will help them along all of the life stages. Thus, there will be no "silo" ministries.

As we flush all that out, I will be sharing how this looks.

I am a preacher's kid, and I know what your family is going through right now. It is definitely hard making family decisions when the Lord is the center of your life because He always finds a way to throw some curveballs in there some way or another (you had the whole insurance thing, we had an ordeal where the congregation got so full of satan that they actually tried to over rule my father). But, as you know, when He is the focus of your life He always provides everything you need. When all of the unknown is happening or when not so great things are happening with your family because that is God's plan to see how you're going to react, it gets a little difficult. But, I give you credit for continuing to keep your eyes on Him, and letting Him be your guide. Every time my family moved, it seemed like it was going to be horrible, but always ended up working out better than we ever imagined it could have been. With my dad being a pastor, I completely understand the frustrations the church brings upon a pastor and his family. We've gone through those struggles many, many times. BUT, we have worked our way through each of those struggles, and had a more focused heart on Our Heavenly Father. It is awesome how He is always there to provide, even in situations where you are in utter desperation because you don't know what's going to happen next. I wish your family the best at this new church, and will be praying for you as you enter a new ministry.

Thanks for wishing us the best and for the prayers as we enter into this new ministry adventure.

We are excited about the opportunities that will be there for us.

If you were to receive donations given thru your church, what would it do to your personal taxes at year end? Would you have to count it as income or could it not be reported due to it being a gift. A person can receive a gift of $12,000 a year and they do not have to pay taxes on it nor report it. If someone would like to send money to help with medical bills they would not want it to cause you to have to pay taxes on it in early 2008. You can check the internet and/or an accountant or H&R Block. Last year we gave our daughter $12,000 from each of us (mother & dad) total of $24,000 and she did not have to report it because it was a gift. Once you have checked it out please post a blog to Anonymous.
