Entire Law of Christ

I believe that Love is the core message of the Bible. I also believe that Scripture needs to be "weighted". By this, I mean that there are certain scriptures that carry more weight then others.

Before you call me a heretic, I think that we see an example of this with Jesus. Jesus was asked about the law and commandments and he answered which ones were the most important.

He states the following with a "hanging footnote":

Jesus said, "'Love the Lord your God with all your passion and prayer and intelligence.' This is the most important, the first on any list. But there is a second to set alongside it: 'Love others as well as you love yourself.' These two commands are pegs; everything in God's Law and the Prophets hangs from them."

in this response, I believe that he makes the shift to love. Thus, the entire law is summed up with a single command:

All that the Law says can be summed up in the command to love others as much as you love yourself. (Galatians 5:14 - CEV)

Here is the verse in context and in the New American Standard Version :

For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.

For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, "YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF."

But if you bite and devour one another, take care that you are not consumed by one another. But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.

For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please.

But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law.

Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality,
idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. Let us not become boastful, challenging one another, envying one another.

Love my friends. Love.

Now, this is going to open up numerous discussion (or could) on the validity of Scriptures, which ones are important, which ones truly show the character of god. It could lead to great discussions, dialog and debate. Which I am happy to have.

What sayest you?

Jesus knew what he was doing. Not only did he not use a formula to talk to the woman at the well, or Nicodemus, but he gave us a new covenant, a covenant of love. If you go back and read the gospels (all of which were written to a different audience, mind you) you will see that most of the time when Jesus is talking about repentance, he is talking to the Pharisees. They commanded a lot of his attention, because they were the ones keeping others from God. Huh, the Super Spiritual, all Knowing, TRUTH holders were the ones getting in the Way? What a shock.
